KHQ’s graduate program is designed for law graduates who are ready to start their career in a structured and supportive environment.
Each year, we welcome a small group of graduates to join the firm. You will work on high quality, complex matters as part of lean teams, contributing to the delivery of legal work while developing the skills required for admission to practice.
From the outset, the focus is on building capability through experience, with close access to partners and senior lawyers who are actively involved in your development.
Applications are typically open in March or April each year, and will be advertised here on our website, and on LinkedIn.
Following the application period, we prepare a shortlist for interviews. The process generally takes four to six weeks, after which we select three to four graduates to join the program.
During your graduate year, you will rotate through each of our practice areas to ensure you receive a thorough overview of what each area has to offer. The program is structured to develop technical ability, commercial understanding and professional judgement through real work experience. Rotations across key practice areas provide exposure to different types of matters and ways of working, helping you build a foundation for where you want your career to go.
The graduate cohort is mentored by one of KHQ’s directors. You will also be assigned a practice group mentor and a buddy to support you as you settle into the firm.
In your first few weeks, you will have regular opportunities to meet people across the firm and build relationships within your teams.

Beyond that, we look for graduates who are curious, commercially aware and ready to take on responsibility. We value clear thinking, strong communication, sound judgement and a professional, team-oriented approach to work.
We assess both capability and fit, with a focus on how you engage with problems, people and the work itself.

Our interview process is conversational. We focus on understanding how you think, how you approach problems and how you engage with legal work.
