Tax & Structuring
Capabilities
The team is led by Harry Giannakidis and Jack Stuk, both of whom are recognised leaders in their field. Jack is not only one of Australia’s leading taxation law practitioners but is also the Executive President of the National Tax & Accountants’ Association.
The broader team combines expertise from various backgrounds, including legal practice, Big 4 accounting firms and government. Our team members are active within various industry bodies and professional associations, and are regularly asked to consult on developing laws and guidance.
Harry, Jack and the team excel in solving complex tax matters and providing expert advice on commercial transactions, business structuring/restructuring, and succession planning. Our diverse client base ranges from high-net-worth individuals through to private companies and large corporates. Additionally, we foster collaborative partnerships with accounting firms and professional service providers to deliver expert advice and support for their clients.
The team specialises in various areas of taxation law, including:
- Federal and state tax: We have a high level of proficiency across both federal tax and state tax matters, including capital gains tax, roll-over relief, small business CGT concessions, residency, and GST. We have worked with many clients to achieve effective, commercially sound tax outcomes.
- Management of tax audits and disputes: Where tax audits or disputes arise, we have the experience and skills to effectively manage and resolve these matters. We have acted on an array of tax controversy matters, including responding to audits, preparing and lodging objections, defending positions in a dispute, dealing with debt recovery and garnishee notices, and advocating for our clients in penalty negotiations.
- Complex trust law issues: We have extensive expertise in addressing complex trust law matters, including the preparation of trust deeds and associated documentation. In this increasingly complex area of law it is important to get it right. See our price list for more information on our services in this regard.

In this space we have advised international firms looking to invest into Australia as well as Australian companies looking to expand abroad. We also work with a number of clients on residency issues when moving or working cross-border.
